The waves were pretty just okay by Bali standards when we got here and its backed off even more the last couple days. Dylan is out of here in less than a week and today might be the first day we dont surf. Its the middle of the day, we slept in after some dance floor mayhem last night while our friend Adam Benny DJ’d and we’re sleeping it off in the dark watching some bootleg Bali DVDs and waiting for our room service to arrive!
Our first surf at Canggu was a strange one for me, I hadn’t slept the night before so I already felt super out of it, it was also the first time I had surfed in 2 weeks. I have been struggling with a ankle injury and I had decided to give it a little extra rest before going on our trip. The waves themselves were a little funky so that didn’t help much, but some of the other guys were blowing up like Wade, Ale, Marlon and Lee. It was cool.

Jeez – I thought laying over in California was easy, lifes been even breezier since we left Drews apartment two days ago! It started with no lines at the Japan Airlines desk in California and not having to pay for either of the board bags we had and continued right into an empty security screening queue and almost noone on our flight so that we got our own aisle to sleep in. Now we’re in Tokyo, and just caught a shuttle out to Japan Airlines complimentary hotel room and checked into our rooms before going out for sushi and sake drinks.
A quick video taken from yesterday in California on our layover to Bali. We got into LAX the day before and ran errands around San Clemente before heading back up to LA to crash with Drew and play high school drinking games.
San Clemente layover
Thanks to the Gudauskas bros and roommate Melly for letting us crash at their place in San Clemente while they dominate ‘QS events in Europe.
Check out that backyard!!
